Easyspace is among one of UK’s web hosting platforms delivering web hosting services to its customers since 1997. The web hosting provider offers four convenient hosting packages to meet a variety of needs. In addition to web hosting, Easyspace also offers e-mail hosting, virtual servers and dedicated servers. Although the web host provider offers attractive features, the network uptime and customer support remain areas in need of improvement.

Uptime and Reliability (2/5)

Easyspace’s houses its data centers and servers in five locations throughout the UK including London, Maidenhead, Glasgow, Leicester, and Nottingham. While the web hosting company provider does offer 100% uptime for dedicated servers, there are no additional uptime guarantees visibly advertised for other hosting packages. Compared to most competitors vowing a 99.9% network uptime, this is not favorable to the reliability of Easyspace.

Unfortunately, the promises that Easyspace puts forth fail to always satisfy disgruntled customers who must wait anywhere between 24 and 72 hours, especially if downtime occurs over weekends. Furthermore, the company’s website is difficult to navigate to find useful information simply regarding reliability (e.g. the Support link directs users to the Control Panel login instead of providing contact support information).

Price Value (3/5)

While Easyspace ranks a little higher when it comes to price value, it still lags behind its competition. The cheapest plan “Pic’n’Mix” customize hosting starts out at $3.66/month which includes a choice of Windows or Linux hosting, maximum of 20 GB, 200 mailboxes, five databases, free domain name, unlimited bandwidth, and free setup. The Starter Hosting plan begins at $4.86/month with the same features as the cheaper plan, upgraded to 500MB UK web space, and 10 mailboxes, with databases available. The most popular plan, StarterPlus Hosting, is priced at $6.49/month, upgraded to 3GB UK web space, 100 mailboxes, MySQL database and almost $50 in Google advertising vouchers. Easyspace also offers a Business Hosting plan for $12.99/month.

If you consider competitors offer the above features for unlimited usage, Easyspace ranks low. Additionally, the customized features and add-ons drive up the monthly fees, so read the applicable terms before agreeing to sign any contracts. In Easyspace’s favor is the 30-day shopping cart and mail filter trial offers.

Control Panel (3/5)

Unless you opt for Easyspace’s dedicated servers, cPanel is not a control panel option, however, as of December 2010; the web hosting provider implemented a new and improved control panel interface for users. While customers have mixed reviews of the Easyspace’s current control panel, it does seem to be more efficient when compared to the previous. For clients loyal to using cPanel, Easyspace is probably not a good option unless opting for a dedicated server platform. For others willing to try something new, there are available online resources to provide information on using the newly implemented control panel.

Customer Support (2/5)

Easyspace does offer support via telephone, e-mail, and online tools including a live chat and ticketing system. The web host also offers valuable online resources for troubleshooting issues. As an add-on feature, customers can “book some dedicated time” with EasyAssistant. Many customers find these features more useful than trying to resolve issues contacting customer support. Note that if you call tech support to assist with your technical difficulties, calculate the available support hours in UK time.

Overall Value (2/5)

Although on the surface Easyspace seems rather affordable and a great value for the services it offers, however, many customers find out too late that the add-ons and hidden fees drive up the costs quickly. Combined with lacking reliability and at best mediocre customer support, Easyspace is not a highly recommended web hosting provider.
