WebHostingPad vs. HostPapa

WebHostingPad vs. HostPapa

Both WebHostingPad and HostPapa are web hosting companies that offer an attractive, single hosting plan for their customers. Both provide stellar technical specs for their customers in their data centers, and are award-winning companies. But these two hosts have something else in common that sets them apart from the others: they are green.

Disclosure: We are a professional review site that receives compensation from the companies whose products we review. We test each product thoroughly and give high marks to only the very best. We are independently owned and the opinions expressed here are our own.

Going ‘green’ for a hosting company means many things, but it is all related to environmental protection and energy consumption. WebHostingPad is dedicated to reducing waste in their office procedures, and they have established policies to use only low-energy usage servers and energy reduction techniques.

HostPapa has taken the extra effort to not only reduce energy consumption, but to 100% offset their energy use completely through Green energy tags. That means they pay 100% over their regular electricity bill toward the use, research, and development of green energy through wind facilities, solar, and even animal waste.

How do these hosting companies stack up together in offering great web hosting? We take a look at both for you and offer our recommendation below. Read on to see what we found.

Pricing

Both hosts offer a single plan for a low price. The WebHostingPad is as low as $1.99/mo if paid five years in advance. Their 12-month plan is still only $3.95 per month. HostPapa offers a low price of $4.95/mo for three years pre-paid, or $6.95 for just one year.

Products and Services

As mentioned above, both companies are committed to their green energy usage. In doing so they offer their clients a Green Certification for their own websites through banners and badges they can proudly display.

HostPapa and WebHostingPad both offer a 30-day money back guarantee and a 99.9% uptime guarantee, as well as marketing credits to use toward search engine and social media promotions. HostPapa provides extended SEO service “bundles,” as well as a 30-day trial for email and newsletter marketing services.

WebHostingPad also offers professional web design and domain registration for their clients.

Web Hosting Features

What do web clients get for their cheap hosting plan? Believe us, there is nothing “cheap” about these plans offered by either company. Both offer unlimited disk and storage space, data transfer, hosted domains on one account, and email accounts. Both offer great support for scripting, multi-media, and third-party software. Both provide a free site builder tool, and domain registration. HostPapa, however, takes domain registration a step further with a free domain for as long as a client remains with their service. As well, both companies offer the top-rated control panel software, cPanel, for client account management.

Customer Service

Both companies offer 24 hour live support via telephone and chat. However, HostPapa limited live support on the weekends to 13 hours each day. WebHostingPad also offers Skype as an alternative support contact.

Both offer an outstanding online support center for their customers with articles, guides, and tutorials. However, the HostPapa site is more user-friendly and contains a greater variety of articles.

Recommendations

These companies are both outstanding in their web hosting and their Green operating efforts. But with additional conscious efforts to be 100% Green, a free domain name for life, HostPapa takes an edge over WebHostingPad and gets our recommendation for most any small to medium sized business website.

Hostpapa are absolutely dreadful. They don’t offer website building tools, just links to forums, none of which work. I’ve been with them a week, and spent 40 hours trying to build any kind of website, and I’ve got absolutely nowhere. Hostpapa were on the phone to me constantly trying to close the sale with me (they take 2 years hosting subscription up front). Now I want to cancel (which on their website they say you can within 30 days) I can’t get anyone to call me phone or to reply to any of my emails. Absolute con merchants, avoid like the plague.
