From a starter package with 5 gigabytes of storage and 50 gigabytes of bandwidth at $2.95 a month up to $99.00 a month for a dedicated server, Lunarpages has several different options to choose from. A2Hosting offers basic web hosting starting at just $3.46 a month and dedicated server options can run from between $199.00 a month to $399.00 a month depending on your requirements. However, Lunarpages does not charge a setup fee for their dedicated hosting whereas A2Hosting does. One thing to note in regard to hosting plan comparisons on Lunarpages – they do not offer a side-by-side comparison making it difficult to see, at a glance, what each plan offers.

Products and Services

Lunarpages comes out ahead when looking for a variety of web hosting packages. They offer five different plans including a Windows based plan. A2Hosting falls behind in web hosting variety with only two plans to choose from. However, the “Executive” plan at A2Hosting will give you unlimited space and bandwidth for a mere $5.57 a month and that’s quite a bargain.

Both companies offer VPS (virtual private server) plans with Lunarpages offering both Linux and Windows operated servers. Lunarpages has Plesk setup with their servers to allow ease of use and A2Hosting utilizes Cpanel and Webhost Manager. When it comes to a larger variety of plans to chose from, Lunarpages is leagues ahead.

Web Hosting Features

Website templates, shopping cart programs, PHP and database access are all part of both companies web hosting plans. Lunarpages offers a $700 free bonus of software that includes Logo Creator, VistorVille, LinkWorth and much more. A2Hosting offers a similar package that also includes some great website promotion tools. A2Hosting will bring smiles to those who are setting up their website as a blogging instrument – they offer one-click installation of your choice between WordPress and Joomla. All in all, A2Hosting and Lunarpages are about similar when it comes to web hosting features.

Customer Service

Whether you prefer to find your questions answered online, by email or by phone, both companies offer an FAQ or knowledge base, how-tos, ticket support and quick access to email contacts. The one that shines in the support department, however, is A2Hosting with their Live Chat option.

Recommendations

Overall, both companies have a lot to offer in as far as web hosting and server options. We did find that attempting to do some comparison shopping between different plans on Lunarpages was rather cumbersome. Having a side-by-side hosting plan comparison chart would go a long way in helping future customers decide which plan works best for them. If initial cost is a factor, or overall variety, the recommendation is Lunarpages. If you’re looking for a company with a bit more in the support department, A2Hosting will handle all your needs.
