The iPage hosting plan is a single yet simple plan loaded with features for only $3.50 per month. LunarPages offers scalable shared hosting plans beginning with their Starter Hosting for $3.95 per month, Basic Hosting plan for $4.95 per month, Windows Hosting for $9.95 per month, a Quicksite Plan for $12.95 per month, and their Business Hosting for $18.95 per month.
Products and Services
iPage offers their clients the tools needed to get their site on the web fast and promoted fast as well. They offer free domain registration, site building tools, and plenty of marketing extras such as credits to use with Google, Yahoo!, and Facebook. iPage is also 100% “green” through Renewable Energy Certificates so their clients can certify their websites with green banners as well.
LunarPages also offers marketing credits to Yahoo!, Google, and Facebook, as well as free SEO tools to help your website get noticed by search engines. And for extra fees LunarPages offers professional services in web design, SEM-SEO marketing, and payment processing merchant accounts.
Web Hosting Features
The iPage plan is a single solution designed to meet the needs of practically any website built by a novice or experienced web developer. It includes unlimited disk space, data transfer, MySQL databases, email accounts, hosted domains, a list of supported scripts and languages, multi-media support, and free e-commerce shopping cart solutions.
The Basic Plan offered by LunarPages most closely compares to the iPage plan with similar unlimited features and extra features. Their Starter Hosting Plan has very limited disk space and transfer, and does not even come with telephone support. The LunarPages Windows Hosting Plan costs extra but has extra loaded support for Windows platforms such as ASP.NET, MS SQL, and Microsoft Frontpage extensions.
One nice features offered by LunarPages is the choice in client control panel. They have chosen to use the industry leader, cPanel, while iPage uses the basic vDeck control panel.
Customer Service
Both companies offer 24 hour support, but only iPage provides their clients with 24 hour telephone support. LunarPages has only limited telephone hours, but their tech support can be reached via online support ticket submission. Both also offer an extensive online help center where clients can find the answers they need through tutorials, articles, and knowledgebase.
Recommendations
Both companies have powerhouse web hosting options. But while they have been in business about the same amount of time, iPage has almost 10 times as many customers and websites. Overall their single plan is more affordable with better customer service. Thus, iPage gets our recommendation.
