iPage VS eBoundHost

iPage VS eBoundHost

The web hosting industry has finally reached a steady average rate of around $5 per month. While web hosting has always seemed affordable in the past with rates of up to $10 to $15 per month, current technology and demand has made hosting available to practically anyone who wants a personal or business website.

iPage and eBoundHost are both 10+ year veterans in the hosting industry. What they bring to the table are shared hosting plans that are below $4 per month. An incredibly affordable price that still packs all the features a personal or business website owner needs. Here is a closer look at each.

Pricing

As mentioned, both hosts offer services under $4. iPage has a single hosting plan for $3.50 per month, while eBoundHost offers their plan at $3.95. Of course, you would have to choose a 3-year plan to receive this price. A 2-year plan is still just $4.50 and $4.95 respectively.

Products and Services

While both hosting companies offer web hosting and domain registration as their main service, the comparison of additional products and services ends there. EBoundHost has chosen to focus on three core hosting services that includes shared server hosting, Linux VPS hosting, and dedicated server hosting. With this focus, eBoundHost is able to concentrate on their server technology and improve connectivity to provide the absolute fastest and most reliable internet availability along with a 99.97% uptime guarantee.

iPage does not offer any uptime guarantees, but does offer an anytime money-back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied. Their additional products and services include a full spectrum of website management package, email services, e-commerce and scripting services, and marketing services. In addition, iPage has made it their responsibility to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates to make their energy consumption 100% offset for wind electricity. Their “green” status is transferable to customers’ websites where they can post a certifications or badges of “eco-friendliness.”

Web Hosting Features

Both companies offer outstanding hosting plans. While iPage offers “unlimited” disk space, bandwidth, email, and MySQL databases, eBoundHost offers “unmetered” versions of each. Both offer an array of free scripts and multimedia support. Both offer e-commerce, but eBoundHost offers only osCommerce shopping cart while iPage offers a choice of 3 carts. In addition, iPage offers $125 in marketing credits as well as free major directory listings and webmaster tools and marketing guides.

One area that eBoundHost stands above iPage is the choice of cPanel control panel for their customers. CPanel is the industry leading account management software that is a top choice for any level of web user.

Customer Service

iPage is there for customers 24 hours a day via telephone, chat, email, and online support ticket. EBoundHost also offers 24 hour telephone support. The difference is clear when it comes to online help centers. iPage’s help center has an extensive library of articles and tutorials, while eBoundHost has a basic FAQ section and a few online manuals.

Recommendations

Again, iPage offers a better overall package in our opinion. While the price is similar between the two worthy hosts, iPage gets our recommendation for superior support and additional products and services.
