Hostmonster and Codero have also both been nominated for several hosting awards in the past couple of years. Since Hostmonster and Codero are very different hosting providers, without the following paragraphs describing the key attributes of each hosting provider it could be difficult to make an accurate comparison of the two companies.
Pricing
Hostmonster plans start at only $5.95 per month (when paid on a yearly basis) and $7.95 per month when paid on a monthly basis. Codero’s hosting plans are typically more expensive than Hostmonster’s, with low-end cloud hosting plans starting at the introductory price of $54 per month, and ranging to $160 per month. Dedicated hosting plans offered by Codero range in price from $130 per month (for a Core i3 Dual Core 3.7 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB disk space and 6 TB of bandwidth allowance) to $340 per month (for a 2X Xeon Quad Core 2.33 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB of disk space, and 6 TB of bandwidth allowance).
Selection of Hosting Services
Both companies are known for providing an extensive selection of hosting services, including but not limited to dedicated hosting, shared hosting, reseller hosting, managed hosting, and cloud hosting. Codero offers unique cloud hosting services that allow you to pay on a per usage basis, and dedicated hosting plans that provide comprehensive server resources, which are needed for the construction and promotion of a successful business website. Codero is also offering temporary 50% discounts on dedicated servers, as they are currently saving a lot of money by using 100% green hosting energy (generated from wind power). Hostmonster also provides several hosting types, including VPS, shared, and dedicated hosting. However, Hostmonster is more known for their all-inclusive, affordable packages. Thus, Codero appears to offer a more extensive selection of hosting services.
Features and Extras
Hostmonster plans include $75 in free Google AdWords credit, free domain registration, and the ability to host an unlimited amount of domains. Hostmonster also includes free site building applications, free product catalog creator/managers, and a plethora of unlimited features like unlimited bandwidth, disk space, and e-mail accounts. Codero is primarily known for more expensive hosting plans, such as cloud hosting, dedicated hosting, and managed hosting, which also include many of the aforementioned features. Both companies offer 99.9% uptime and 100% money back guarantees, and both companies utilize green energy and promise to maintain a neutral carbon footprint.
In conclusion, Hostmonster is geared more towards the webmaster on a budget, while Codero gets our nod as they are more suitable for a serious online business owner.
