Pricing

When scoping out these two services, the first thing you will probably notice is a significant price difference. Though it always seem to have a special promotional offer, even FatCow’s regular prices are notably lower than Yahoo. With this company, hosting is straightforward and affordable from the price of $4.83 per month. The price of Yahoo Small Business however, is obviously higher and a bit more complex. For example, hosting starts off at $7.46 per month but this price is only good for the first 90 days. After that, the cost hikes up to $9.95 per month. This price is very competitive but if you’re looking to save, FatCow may be more your cup of tea.

Products and Services

FatCow and Yahoo are both specialists in the web hosting industry and compliment there services with a number of additional products. Although FatCow is impressive with services such as domain name registration, website management, and scripting add-ons, Yahoo offers all that and what seems to be a never-ending list of additional services. Short of dedicated servers and VPS solutions, Yahoo has virtually everything you need to enhance your web presence, allowing you to take advantage of fully integrated merchant solutions, marketing tools, email hosting and more. Keep in mind that additional services from either company will cost you a little extra.

Web Hosting Features

FatCow is a web hosting veteran and has a few more years in the business than Yahoo. However, Yahoo has made tremendous improvements to its service and those enhancements are reflected in many new features. The company is now able to go head-to-head with some of the industry’s biggest players. Aside from unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, multiple email accounts and other features you get from FatCow, Yahoo offers a number of exclusive features that distinguish it from the competition. This includes fully integrated search engine tools, generous marketing credits, free site promotion and more. .

Customer Service

FatCow and Yahoo are both on the ball when it comes to customer service. For instance, both offer support 24/7 via phone and online through methods such as email and support ticket. They also allow you to make use of self-help tools such as FAQs and knowledge bases to find your own answers. As far as support goes, you shouldn’t have to worry about either of these companies hanging you out to dry.

Recommendations

Outside of price, choosing between FatCow and Yahoo is a tough call. If it means anything, Yahoo is a larger company that is said to have one of the most reliable IT infrastructures around. However, FatCow is beloved throughout the industry and well known for its high level of quality. Sounds like you just can’t lose.
