FatCow vs. WebHostingPad

FatCow vs. WebHostingPad

When it comes to cheap hosting, two companies instantly come to mind: FatCow and WebHostingPad. While FatCow is a veteran in the hosting marketplace, WebHostingPad is less experienced yet owned and operated by a team of industry experts. Both give you a highly reliable service at an amazingly low price but who has the upper hand? Read this in-depth comparison to find out.

Pricing

WebHostingPad has quickly built a solid reputation by providing an affordable service and its long-standing price of $3.96 per month has recently been dropped to just $1.99 per month. While this deal may seem too good to be true, it is very real and attached with quality support, as you will find out below. FatCow on the other hand, gives you a great bargain but the service is priced considerably higher than WebHostingPad. Still, at only $4.83 per month, this is a price that most customers will appreciate.

Products and Services

Some web hosting companies offer it all these days. They can set you up with a dedicated server, virtual private server, Microsoft Exchange hosting and colocation among other services. FatCow and WebHostingPad are both on the simpler side of the spectrum as they offer a single hosting plan. This could be a turn-off in the eyes of some but not when looking at all the power that come along with both solutions. In addition, both companies have complimentary services that may be of interest such as web design and domain registration.

Web Hosting Features

If you thought choosing between FatCow and WebHostingPad was difficult before, hold on because it really gets challenging when taking a look at their respective feature sets. Both give you a free site builder and FrontPage support along with more advanced development tools such as PHP, Perl and Ruby on Rails. They also provide you with unlimited amounts of disk space and bandwidth and allow you to host an unlimited number of domains on one account. Some of the more distinct features are FatCow’s fully integrated Google Webmaster tools and H-Sphere control panel vs. WebHostingPad’s multimedia support and award-winning cPanel.

Customer Service

As we touched on above, WebHostingPad backs up its cheap web hosting solution with world-class support. FatCow makes the same commitment. Regardless of what company you decide to go with, you are sure to get the benefit of a knowledgeable support staff that responds in a timely fashion. Both hosts deliver assistance in various ways including toll-free phone, email and support ticket. They also make self-help resources available in the forum of online documentation and step-by-step video tutorials.

Recommendations

FatCow vs. WebHostingPad is perhaps one of the most difficult web hosting battles to call. Especially when looking at the high level of support, reliability and overall value. While there is definitely no loser, you may be partial towards FatCow because of its comprehensive set of SEO tools and prefer WebHostingPad because of its provision of the popular cPanel control panel. Either way, you come out as the clear cut winner.

One Response to “FatCow vs. WebHostingPad”

  1. Jim Cavanagh says:

I am moving from FATCOW to WebHostingPad and the FTP is running as we speak. FATCOW has gotten very slow and their tech support staff, while generally knowledgeable and even good-natured are way over-worked. FATCOW has gone downhill – fast! WebHostingPad, on the other hand, has been responsive, professional and very fast! This brings to mind an old joke: what is black and white and black and white and black and white …. answer: FATCOW rolling down the hill from its formerly high position. My advice: go with WebHostingPad and hope that their management team has a better plan for coping with “catastrophic success”.
