Two great earth friendly web hosting companies out there for people to choose from are FatCow and A2Hosting. One is green through wind energy, the other green through carbon offsetting. In comparison, they both are good for our planet and have quite a bit to offer.

FatCow has a very simple pricing scheme – one web hosting account to cover all your needs. For only $5.50 a month, this hosting account comes with unlimited amounts of disk space, bandwidth, POP mailboxes, and MySQL databases. This account also allows for unlimited hosted domains. A2Hosting offers basic web hosting accounts starting at $3.46 a month and has limits of 10 gigabytes for disk space and data transfers. One step up and for $5.57 a month, A2Hosting offers unlimited disk space, data transfer and page hits.
Products and Services
The downside to FatCow is that it only offers web hosting and no dedicated or virtual server accounts nor does it offer reseller accounts. A2Hosting has its web hosting accounts in addition to server and reseller accounts.
FatCow has created its own proprietary control panel for web hosting accounts. The unique thing about this hosting company’s approach is to make things easier for their clients. Instead of running with the technical crowd and perhaps losing the every day crowd, they have gone out of their way to make not only their website easy to navigate but have applied this philosophy to their control panel as well. Everything is categorized and color-coded to indicate whether or not a particular option is available. Each A2Hosting account (server, reseller or web hosting) comes with cPanel. cPanel is very easy to use and has many features and practical applications to help administer your website. cPanel is a stable and well-known control panel.

Recommendations
Both companies are doing good things for the planet. If you require more than just a web hosting account and dread the idea of transferring your site on your own, A2Hosting is your best bet. However if customer support and ease of use are major concerns, FatCow definitely should be your new web host.
