Bluehost VS Hostpapa

Bluehost VS Hostpapa

Bluehost and Hostpapa do one thing and do it right – web hosting. Both companies realize that in order to provide the best possible service and support at a price that is affordable means not having tons of extra products and services that might deter from what they do best. While very similar in almost every aspect of web hosting and what they offer, one company does have something a little different to offer.

Pricing

Bluehost offers affordable hosting at just $6.95 per month. Web hosting accounts are chock full of unlimited features, a free domain for the life of the account and access to a free site builder program.

As a special offer, Hostpapa has reduced its monthly price from $6.95 to $4.95 a month. Hosting accounts with this company include unlimited features as well, a free domain for life and do not charge setup or hidden fees.

Products and Services

Hostpapa simply offers web hosting – one fee, one feature rich plan. Where this company stands out from many of the rest is in how it offers 100% green energy web hosting. Hostpapa purchases energy credits equal to the amount of energy the company consumes.

Bluehost likes to keep things simple as well and offers web hosting as its main service. The company does offer, however, an affiliate program. Every affiliate member receives $65 per referral and has access to an administration section that allows tracking of click-through ratios as well as commission payouts.

Web Hosting Features

Web hosting accounts with Bluehost are filled with numerous unlimited features including add-on domains, bandwidth, web space and hosted domain allowances. Each account is preset with PHP 5, Ruby on Rails and Python for scripting needs and includes a MySQL 5 database server. The company offers dozens of add-on scripts to choose from to further enhance customer’s web sites.

Hostpapa hosting accounts come with unlimited disk space and bandwidth and also allow for unlimited hosted domains on one account. Hosting customers can choose from several exclusive tools such as Fantastico, a site builder and B2Evolution. The company’s e-mail features are rather extensive and include an organizer, address book, calendar and much more. All accounts also come with a free domain for the life of the account or a free domain transfer.

Customer Service

Both Bluehost and Hostpapa know that support is important. Both companies offer an extensive support center that includes ticket support and a knowledge base. Hostpapa has a troubleshooter in place to help with issues and both companies offer an online live chat support option. Bluehost offers and shows a 24×7 toll-free support number to call within the support area whereas for Hostpapa, the number is shown on the front page of the site and not the support section.

Recommendations

Both companies offer quite a lot for the monthly fee and have very nice support sections available for their customers. Either company would be a good choice for hosting. However, if one is looking for a company that is eco-friendly, and more affordable, Hostpapa is the clear winner.
