Bluehost vs. GoDaddy Mac OSX Cloud

GoDaddy has made a huge impact on the web hosting industry. With their clever Superbowl ads along with revolutionizing domain registration, GoDaddy has become one of the most recognizable names now in both domain and web hosting. And recently they have introduced cloud server hosting, making them a powerful contender among their peers.

Bluehost was founded a year before GoDaddy in 1996. Since then they have maneuvered through the dot com boom and bust, and is now one of the largest web hosts in the industry with millions of websites under management, and growing at a rate of about 20,000 per month.

Between these industry giants, do you go with the trusted GoDaddy brand with a newer cloud server hosting plan? Or stick with the tested and proven winner of a plan offered by Bluehost?

We take a look at both plans below and give you our recommendation.

Pricing

Bluehost makes pricing easy with a single hosting plan for just $5.95. For $19.95 clients can buy up to the “Pro” plan that offers a little more CPU resources, SSL certificates, a dedicated IP address, site backup and more.

The GoDaddy Mac OSX Cloud division offer four classes of cloud hosting starting at $99 per month for the Economy, $180 for Deluxe, $300 for Premium, and $550 for the Ultimate plan.

Products and Services

GoDaddy is known for its domain registration. Their clients get the benefit, experience, and the low pricing of cheap domain registration. As well, GoDaddy also offers extra products such as marketing and productivity, other domain services, website builders, and other hosting tools.

The GoDaddy Cloud is set upon an Apple Mac platform and supports easy integration with iPhone and other Apple software and products.

Bluehost keeps their focus on the thing they do best – offering one low-priced plan with all features included. They include a great control panel with cPanel, and they offer $75 in Google Adwords credits. They also back their plan with a 99.9% uptime guarantee and an anytime money back guarantee.

Web Hosting Features

The Bluehost plan is all-inclusive with unlimited bandwidth, email accounts, disk space, and hosted domains. They offer plenty of scripting support for all the popular scripting languages, and provide bonus 3rd party plugins. Most multi-media files are supported. And Bluehost also provides free eCommerce features with a choice of shopping carts.

The GoDaddy Mac OSX Cloud hosting plans offer generous amounts of memory, storage, and bandwidth for each plan scale. And much like dedicated hosting plans, the GoDaddy plans are aimed at larger businesses who have the intention of downloading and utilizing their own software including operating system, control panel, and other integrated software used with the website(s).

Customer Service

There is no doubt the Bluehost has excellent technical support with 24 hour availability via telephone, chat, or email. They also provide an extensive online knowledgebase filled with articles, wizards, and tutorials.

GoDaddy also has 24/7 telephone support (though not with a toll-free line). And their online community help center is outstanding with user-friendly navigation for articles, videos, and bulletin boards.

Recommendations

Both of these companies are suitable for growing businesses. GoDaddy Cloud hosting is great for larger companies who need extra computing power for their growing websites. However our recommendation goes to Bluehost for a plan that is still affordable for most small to medium business owners.
